t r u t h o u t - FOCUS: American Democracy Hangs by a Thread in Ohio

Goodness, things are really getting crazy out there. Ohio is basically a state of mayhem at the moment. How many lawsuits are there?

John Conyers, D-MI: "At the outset of this hearing, I would like to announce that 10 members of Congress, including myself, have written to (Ohio) Gov. Taft asking him to either delay or treat as provisional the vote of Ohio's presidential electors," Rep. John Conyers, the senior Democrat on the Judiciary Committee said at the outset. "The closer we get to Columbus and the Ohio presidential election, the worse it looks. Each and every day it becomes increasingly clear that the Republican power structure in this state is acting as if it has something to hide."

Some big news here about today's meeting in Ohio of the House Judiciary Dems. Mr. Curtis spoke at this meeting as you can read here:

NPR : Ohio Voting Irregularities

Tavis Smiley Show had a story on Ohio, mostly just repeating what we have all been saying for the last several weeks. I thought it was worth posting though because NPR has not really covered this so far.

Greene County Lockdown and more

This is a very interesting article. There are so many fascinating things going on right now, our heads are swimming. Yet, we must push on. Talk of "moving on" and letting this pass are silly. We tried that last time, and where did it get us? This time we cannot give up or move on. We cannot decide to change this for next time, we have to change now.

Zogby Polling Seeks Damage Control After Election Day Flub -- 12/09/2004

This is an interesting article. What's most annoying is Sabato's claim that "There is absolutely no chance that the election was stolen..."

What hogwash! There's no way to tell, from what we have available to us, whether it was or wasn't stolen. The problem is that information that would prove or disprove claims of fraud is unavailable for a variety of reasons. Until we can prove that it was not stolen, the chance that it was is still there, and it's something to get upset about, as far as I'm concerned.

20 Amazing Facts About Voting in the USA

20 Amazing Facts About Voting in the USA

I admit freely that I took this top 20 list from several other sites, including Truthout. Many other Web sites list this same top 20 list, so I thought I'd add to the fold.

Did you know....
1. 80% of all votes in America are counted by only two companies: Diebold and ES&S.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diebold

2. There is no federal agency with regulatory authority or oversight of the U.S. voting machine industry.

4. The chairman and CEO of Diebold is a major Bush campaign organizer and donor who wrote in 2003 that he was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year."

5. Republican Senator Chuck Hagel used to be chairman of ES&S. He became Senator based on votes counted by ES&S machines.

Thom Hartmann / Coastal Post

Here's Thom Hartmann's article, "The Ultimate Felony Against Democracy." I think his talk about the commons is really important because if anything should be truly held in common, the vote should be part of that, in my opinion.

wbai.org

This article was interesting. The letter listed several irregularities that have been mentioned in the past as well as some that I have not heard. Not sure what to make of the letter at this point, but anyhow, there it is.

wbai.org: "(by Don DeBar, Dec 3, 2004) The White Plains office of the FBI
today refused to accept a complaint detailing allegations of
compound felonies of voter fraud, conspiracy and other offenses in
connection with the Ohio conduct of last month's presidential
election."

Black Box Voting, again

This group is really trying hard, and we must give them credit where credit is due. They are really going to do whatever possible to get the public records they have requested, and they have just filed suit against Teresa LaPore and Palm Beach County, FL:

Go Bev Go

bring out the mini sad violin, you'll need it for this one (A news article about Bev and the Gang crashing LePore's going-away party--at a publicly-funded event)
